So I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips, especially since I've only been at this for about a year. Digital art tips and paper/canvas art tips are both useful, since I do both.
Hi Adrian! Welcome to Artrift!
The greatest tip I can give you is, just keep on keeping on. You won't improve over night but practice makes improvement :)
What's your favorite kind of art?
Yo Adrain, I took a look see at your posts thus far. Your art is coming along nicely considering you are self taught! I'm the same also self taught. I would like to suggest having a well defined light source having lights and darks in the right place makes a project look super snazy. An easy way to do this is to imagine ball of light specifically anywhere in the picture usually above the focal point or main attraction of the project. From that point of light imagined the character will look lighter from that point and darker at the furthest point from the light source. Hope this helps ;)
